The Knowledge Nook was founded by educator and lifelong learner Suzan Hanrahan, whose passion for teaching began in 1998 when she shadowed her aunt, a fourth-grade teacher. That experience ignited a love for education that has never left her. Suzan went on to study English and Education at Colgate University and earned a graduate degree in child development from the Erikson Institute in Chicago.
She began private tutoring in 2007 and expanded her expertise across subjects and ages. In 2016 she discovered a passion for test prep, and when the College Board announced the Digital SAT, she built a curriculum from scratch with targeted lessons and proven strategies designed specifically for the new format.
In 2020 she added homeschooling her own three children to her practice, deepening her understanding of how to blend structure with flexibility for every kind of learner.
Nearly twenty years and hundreds of students later, there is hardly a subject or age group Suzan hasn’t taught and that breadth is exactly what her students’ families count on.
