Policies

Deposit & Cancellation Policy

A $500 deposit is required to secure a seat in the course. This deposit is applied toward the total course cost. If a student cancels:

  • More than 14 days before the first class, 80% ($400) of the deposit will be refunded.
  • 7–14 days before the first class, 50% ($250) of the deposit will be refunded.
  • 1–7 days before the first class, the full deposit will be forfeited.
No refunds will be issued after the course begins.

Attendance & Make-Up Policy

Students are allowed one no-penalty make-up lesson in the case of illness or emergency. The date and time of the make-up must be arranged and coordinated with the instructor, and will be scheduled before the course concludes. Please note that missing more than one class affects the classroom dynamic and overall instructional quality; therefore, a second make-up lesson cannot be offered.

Official Exam Reimbursement for Students

We encourage all students to take any official College Board exam should an exam occur during the course of study.  To support this, The Knowledge Nook will reimburse the cost of our own $68 proctored exam upon verification of the student’s enrollment in the official exam.

To qualify for reimbursement, students must:

  1. Provide proof of registration or enrollment in the corresponding official exam with a confirmation email from College Board. Proof may be forwarded to [email protected].
  2. Submit the required documentation before the last day of the course.

Reimbursements will be processed within 10 business days of approval and issued according to family preference. Options include Venmo, CashApp, or returned to the original credit card on file if payment was made through [insert name of payment system like Paypal/Stripe].

Use of SAT-Approved Testing Devices

An SAT-approved testing device is a critical requirement for every Nook prep class. The Knowledge Nook does not currently have backup devices; therefore, students must come to class prepared.  To ensure compliance with official testing requirements, create a secure and standardized testing environment, and help students become familiar with their testing devices, The Knowledge Nook follows College Board guidelines for approved testing devices.

Students are permitted to use any of the following College Board-approved testing devices:

  • Personal laptops (Windows or Mac)
  • Tablets (if supported by the exam platform)
  • School-issued Chromebooks

Device Requirements:

  1. Must meet the minimum system requirements for Bluebook, the digital exam platform.
  2. Must have Bluebook installed.
  3. Must be fully charged before arrival.
  4. Must be capable of connecting to secure Wi-Fi.
  5. Must not contain prohibited software or applications during the exam session.
